Just Another Day in Paradise :)

So...The week was amazing. It was exactly what I had been looking forward to. Hot sunny days on the beach playing in the crystal clear water & getting my tan on, yummy seafood & fresh fruit, and spending time with my fiance and gran. :) . We got custard from a place called Shakes every single night. It is the BEST custard EVER. My personal fav: Choc. custard with brownie and waffle cone chips mixed in. Mmm Mmm Mmm. :D So, besides eating and being total beach bums, we also played intense games of monopoly every night. Gran won the most times..she really got into it. We managed to get away from the beach long enough to run to the outlets to shop then to the Crab Trap to eat lunch one day. At the outlets, Drew and I found our wooden plates we have been searching high and low for. They are square with one of the corners divided off for dipping sauces. They are perfect. :) I'm not the best at remembering to take pics, but we managed to take a few while we were down there. I need to get better at picture taking, because I feel like the pics make the blog posts much more interesting. The oil HAD NOT reached Destin. Two days before we left "the news" said it was 30 miles off shore..then they said it would reach Destin by today...now they are saying it could be next week. They don't know. I am glad it didn't ruin this year's trip anyhow. Here are the pics we took!

My favorite meal of the trip: Drew grilled fillets and we boiled shrimp and crap legs with some corn and potatoes

There are tons more pics. I'll make a new post of just beach pics. :)

WooHoo!

We are almost set to head down to Destin! Got my new Oakley sunglasses in the mail just in time and we have gotten a good start on packing. Now all that's left is to get the rest of our stuff packed, clean out the car so it can all fit, and I need to get a pedi! Tomorrow is gonna be a busy busy day, but I'm excited. Here is a pic of my new shades! :D

Randomness

The past few days haven't been too exciting. Drew has been working for most of the day and I have been taking advantage of this brief break I have from life and have been catching up on sleep and watching wedding and baby shows. We HAVE been taking our 5 mile walks in the afternoons though. We didn't take one today because the weather was kinda crappy. I absolutely love our walks. It's a chance for us to talk about everything from present events to what are dreams are for our future as we take in God's beautiful creations. I hope it is something we continue to do even after we move to Birmingham. Speaking of His creations, above is a big beautiful rose that Drew brought home to me after work on Monday. Isn't that so precious?? :) <3

I cannot wait to be at the beach with Drew & my family. He hasn't been since he was young and I am looking forward to sharing this experience with him. The beach is my favorite place to be. Something about the warm breeze, the sound of the waves crashing, the sand beneath your feet, and the smell of the salty water soothes my soul. It just makes me sooo happy. I am excited about waking up and cooking breakfast and enjoying it with my family out on the roof top balcony and spending all day soaking up the sun and swimming in the ocean and cooking meals together for dinner. Something about the beach makes the food taste better, makes you sleep better, and makes your soul shine a little brighter. :)

The one tough thing about this beach trip is that my papa won't be able to share it with us. It will be the first time my gran has gone since he has passed..I know it will be hard for her seeing as we used to all take several beach trips a year together, but I feel like being at the beach will help her in some ways, just like it has helped me with broken and saddened hearts in the past.

We have most of our stuff packed and are just waiting for Saturday to arrive so we can pile up in my four runner with the windows down and music playing and make our way to the little piece of heaven God put for us here on earth. :) I ordered (well my dad did..thank you daddy!) a new pair of oakley sunglasses I have had my eyes on. They are the rare frogskin clear ones. So cute.. I have had my other really nice sunglasses for almost 4 years now..so it was time to get some news. I hope they come before we leave! I hope to have a ton of pics and stories to share when I get home!
